Wynton Marsalis – Cherokee

There are a number of AMAZING videos out there of Wynton playing phenominal trumpet on this jazz standard, but this one definitely takes one of the top places!

James Morrison, Jon Faddis, Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval Play The Blues: Live Bern 1990

The title says it all. 4 amazing trumpeters displaying their unique and fiery interpretations of the blues!

Rafael Mendez – Flight of the Bumble Bee & Mexican Hat Dance

A legendary trumpeter playing legendary songs. Wooooooo!

Maurice André – G. P. Telemann’s Sonata in D Major

He possessed one of the most beautiful piccolo trumpet sounds to have ever been heard. His technique and style is impeccable. Simply amazing!

Alison Balsom – Italian Concertos

She’s not only a beautiful woman with a sexy accent, but she’s a brilliant trumpeter with a gorgeous tone and deep musicality. She exemplifies everything that is alluring, magnificent and elegant with the trumpet.

**Bonus Video… it’s just too darn good!**

Alison Balsom – The Magice Flute

Lew Soloff Bern 1989

Lew Soloff in a blistering “growling ” solo – on Steve Swallow’s composition “Ladies in Mercedes.” He’s one of my favorite improvisers because he is extraordinarily patient, melodic and uses space brilliantly!

Clifford Brown – Oh, lady be good – Memories of you

Just to see a video of Clifford Brown, one of the greatest jazz trumpeters to have lived, is AWESOME. Here he is on the Soupy Sales TV Show.

Tom Harrell with Horace Silver – Umbria Jazz – 1976

A young Tom Harrell playing the heck out of the trumpet. His improvised lines are so deep. Not a single note is wasted. They all have a purpose and intention. He’s incredibly fluid in his lines as they rise and fall.

Robert Glasper Feat. Keyon Harrold and Casey Benjamin Live at Troubador

A little EFX on the trumpet never hurt anyone! This is one of the coolest and hippest solos as he trades phrases with the saxophonist – tasteful, burning, energetic employing some serious chops and harmonic permutations!

Terence Blanchard – Cully Jazz – 2016 Live

I love Terence Blanchard’s melodic and harmonic concepts, not to mention his forward thinking bravado with taking jazz music to other places. His muscular approach on the horn is impressive and draws you in. His sense of groove makes your head bounce immediately. His tone is splendid with and without EFX. His compositions are incredible.

Roy Hargrove – I remember Clifford

The sound quality on this video does not do Roy Hargrove’s flugelhorn tone any justice. Roy has the best flugelhorn tone around. His phrasing and improvisations are lush, soulful and deep! Close your eyes and soak in this entire video! His solo later in the video is exquisite!
